Two Things.....

Oh my - it's December 23!  How did that happen?  :D  This month went by SO fast, as I knew it would.  Time has a tendency to fly when you're having fun and are busy as all get-out!

It's going to be a short post today, because technically I have the "day off" (Brian's home and we're going to do some last-minute stuff), but I did want to quickly wish all of my readers who celebrate, a very Merry Christmas.

Incidentally, isn't this postcard lovely?  I got a bunch of them from my friend Robin (of COURSE).  :D  It's too bad people don't send postcards like they used to!

I also wanted to mention something that happened yesterday that I feel is a MAJOR milestone for the blog - we hit 50 THOUSAND views.  Fifty thousand!  Now, by some blogs' standards this is three days' worth of views.  But considering that last December I had 914 views for the whole month, and now I average that over four days, I'd say that I'm growing.  I'm very excited about this and yeah, I'm kinda proud. I hope that by the end of December, 2012 I have over 100K non-spam views.  :D

And because I'm excited about it, I want to share the excitement with you!  Let's do a giveaway!

Because I think this is major, I want to make the giveaway bigger than normal.  So here's what you'll get:  a HUGE box of ephemera courtesy of Yours Truly AND a $25 gift certificate, furnished by me, to ONE of the following shops:  Citra Solv, Manto Fev, Old Stuff Only, Paper Flea Market, Retro Cafe Art Gallery, or Silver Crow Creations.  Your pick!

Here's what YOU have to do:

1.  In the comments below (or on Facebook or in an e-mail to me via your newsletter, but only ONE of these, please!), tell us what you most look forward to in 2012.  It can be a vacation, a gift, a special day, a milestone - whatever is happening in your life that has you giddy with anticipation!  For example, I have many things this year but I'm very excited that I have a solo show at our library coming up in November.  I'm already working on it and I'm VERY excited about it!  So it can be something like that, or as easy as "I can't wait until the 4th of July!".  :D

2.  I can't emphasize this enough - BE SURE TO INCLUDE YOUR E-MAIL IN THE name(at)domain(dot)com FORMAT!  Do you know how many people weren't included in the last giveaway because they didn't follow this instruction?  If you want to be counted, you gotta do it.  :D

3.  I'm so sorry to have to do this, but for this giveaway I'm afraid I have to limit it to the US and Canada.  Postage is just too expensive overseas.

4.  I'm going to have this giveaway go until January 4 at 5 p.m. CST, which is a week from Wednesday.  I know this is a CRAZY time of year so I'll remind you from time to time before the deadline.

Thank you, thank you, thank YOU for your readership.  The only reason I have 50,000 views is because you took the time to read this blog.  If it weren't for you, I wouldn't be writing this at all.  But I love that I've gotten to "meet" so many of you over this past year or so.  Here's to another year of Ephemeraology!

Congratulations! Your landmark is praiseworthy, for sure. I am looking forward to attending the Margie Whittington painting workshop in June of 2012. Saving my pennies to attend, I'm practicing my art forms daily. Merry Christmas to you and yours.

  2. How exciting to see the view stats isn't it!!! Being new to blogging, (less than a year), I'm still in the 'jump for joy' stage!! LOL.
I'm looking forward to new opportunities this coming 2012, with classes ahead to take and doors opening to my arts and goals to be reached!
Thanks for this opportunity of a Giveaway!!! I don't get to enter them very often, so look forward to this:)
Cheers! and Have a Wonderful Holiday Season and a Fabulous New Year!!!

  3. Congratulations to you! This has been such a difficult year and yet there is always but always goodness in each day ... may 2012 bring less to no strife, continued health and creativity. The continuing adventure of life, wellness and making art is what I look forward to.

    ...a joyous season to all!

  4. Congrats on 50,000! My biggest excitement for 2012 is my son and daughter-in-law (to be)'s wedding in October. I will be heavily involved in all the preparations and am so excited about it. And I'm excited to anticipate the (good) unknown. The things I don't yet have a clue about. There is always something wonderful in our futures!

  5. Oh my goodness: 50,000 followers! Congratulations on making that landmark. What will the next be? As for 2012, I'm looking forward to finally getting up to visit my daughter and son-in-law in their new apartment. And I'm looking forward to inviting new love and friendship in to my life. Patsy

  6. Congrats, Mel!!

I can hardly wait to open my new store in the spring of 2012!!

  7. Congratulations! I'm looking forward to getting things organized and clutter free in the house this year.

  8. Congratulations on a big milestone! In 2012,I'm looking forward to joining the Westcoast Calligraphy Society.

  9. Congratulations! I have no big events on the horizon. I'm just looking forward to continued involvement with and enjoyment of ephemera.

  10. Wow Mel that is great! Pity there's nothing like the shops etc in Australia but I'm seriously thrilled for you that 50,000 people are looking at your blog - what a great way to spread messages of cheer and hope! I do my little blog post every day with a paper collage and a last count I had 20 followers, so I am seriously impressed by your efforts. Keep up the good work. Heather (Australia)

  11. Good for you, congrats. I am a ephemera junkie as well. The more the merrier. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you my fellow Wisconsinite!

  12. Congrats ! And what I look forward to the most in 2012 is learning to use what I have ! I had to put my art supplies in storage and move 2000 miles for a new job . I started accumulating again and felt silly. So , I want to stop the accumulation and start the "creation " . I plan to move back where I belong , but don't want to waste anytime where I currently reside ! Therefore, my new motto is " use it while you got it " Thanks, Susan Wagner

We are finally settled into our new home after our move in the summer.
I look forward to using my new studio space--a whole room dedicated to art supplies and me and my ideas! 2012----yes!

  14. Congrats, Mel! Can't wait to come see your solo show! In 2012 I am looking forward to my nephew's wedding in April, and also to working on my art and hopefully attending some more arts and crafts shows.

  15. I am looking forward to all of the potential I have for change in the New Year. I'm hoping to grow my home business and find more peace as well.

  16. I'm glad that your blog has taken off. I've checked in with you several times over the past year, and I've not been disappointed. In fact, I would hope that you have decent hang time, because I know that you usually grab me for an hour or so per visit.

I know this isn't a common goal, but I became disabled this year, and my goal is to develop my art as a way to communicate and remain productive. Right now, I'm excited because I'm working on a large shrine that I hope to have in a summer show.

Please continue with your good work.
