Time Machine Wish-List

I got a FUN package in the mail yesterday - my goodies that I had ordered from Manto Fev on Monday!  Talk about fast shipping!  Of course I HAD to take advantage of the "20% your order of $20 or more" deal going on  - you can too!  Just use the coupon code SAVE20 when you check out.  Hurry, though!  It ends tonight!  :D

I love everything I bought but there are two items that really stick out for me.  I purchased them from the "Flea Market" section of the shop, which is my absolute favorite part of Manto Fev.  It's chock-full of one-of-a-kind items!

The two items I'm referring to today are these two catalogs:

I love them both.  You probably know already how much I adore trading stamp anything, so to get this intact S&H catalog was a MAJOR score.  It's from 1963 and it's full of mid-century modern furniture and accessories.  Those of us who grew up in the late 60s/early 70s will certainly recognize many of these items - they probably played a pretty big role in our childhoods!  It's funny - the colors seem to be too garish - like the color register was off when they printed the catalog.  But I have a feeling it was actually the true colors of the items - scary indeed!  :D

The second catalog is from Milton Bradley - I had no idea they were suppliers of educational and art materials!  Just check this out - phonics cards, watercolor palettes, weaving looms, puzzles - and the prices!  They're ridiculous!  Judging by the style and the photos, I'm going to take an educated guess that this catalog is from the late 40s/early 50s.

As I was perusing these wonderful catalogs last night, I wished for a   second that I had a time machine and that I could travel back to when these books were new so that I could take advantage of the bargains.  I imagined how much fun stuff I could get with 1950 prices and a 2011 budget!  Maybe that's what I'll ask for this year - a portal to the past so that for one day I can be immersed in vintage paper and supplies.  Do you think Santa can deliver?  :D

  1. Very nice pieces! I'm going to go check out that website some more.

  2. Oh Chris - you'll love it! You never know what you're going to find! :D

  3. Oh, I should not have gone there. This is VERY bad.

  4. I picked up a similar catalog to the S&H one this weekend at a local antique store. Still had the "points schedule" inside that told how many points you had to redeem for each item. It was dated 1960! I can't wait to use some of the pictures out of it. Classic.
