Hodge Podge Monday!
I hope you all had wonderful weekends - mine was a lot of fun! On Saturday Brian, our friend Suze and I (and our doggie Dudley!) spent the day downtown for the annual Sidewalk Sale and we snagged some great bargains. Now, you may not expect to hear any ephemera tales from that experience - but I do have one, and it was a VERY fun surprise!
My friend Amy and her sister were selling their handmade soap (called Jackson Soapworks) at the sidewalk sale, in front of one of my favorite shops, As You Wish (if you clicked on the link, then you know why it's one of my favorite shops!). Kathy, the owner, had been safekeeping a huge bag of ephemera bits that Amy had given her to give me a while back and Saturday I finally remembered to pick it up.
HOLY SMOKES. Yes, these photos here are just a smattering of what was in the bag. Can you believe this?!? I was flabbergasted. The great old textbooks, the comic books, the bits and pieces - but wait! What's THIS? A National catalog from 1951?!?! Yep. Check out the AWESOME color photos - I am going to have a lot of fun with this fantastic item! I profusely thanked Amy and she said that she wasn't using the stuff and she knew I would. :D
It's times like this where I feel I simply must pay it forward! So that's what I'm going to do. I really want to hit the "300" mark on my Facebook page and we're only 11 folks shy of that goal. If you haven't "liked" the page yet, hop on over and do so, because once we hit that magic number I'm going to do a giveaway! A nice, big, juicy giveaway. If you're not involved with Facebook, not to worry - we'll do the giveaway here. I just want more numbers! :D
One more thing - are any of you on Pinterest? If you're not, and you enjoy wasting hours online (because believe me, it WILL happen on Pinterest), request an invite. It's a virtual bulletin board of great ideas, design, fashion, home interiors, recipes, art, etc. I have my own boards where you can find my latest artworks, pendants, Blurb books and Retro Renovation collages but I also have boards for other stuff I think is neat. One of my friends on Pinterest showed me this AMAZING pin - I think it's right up my alley, no? Now THAT'S a clever use of vintage ephemera! I'm getting ideas.... :D
